The Agency

This is a fast-growing independent creative agency doing genuinely interesting work for a mix of consumer and lifestyle brands. The social function has been punching above its weight for a while now. They’re ready to invest properly in someone to lead it.

The business is in a strong place. New client wins are coming in. The team is ambitious. And there’s a clear path for the right person to build something significant here.

 

The Role

You’ll own social across the agency. That means strategy, output, team, client relationships and the P&L. The social division is currently billing £1m and there’s a credible, well-supported plan to get to £2m within the next 12 months. You’ll be central to making that happen.

You’ll hold a senior leadership position with shared accountability for the agency’s social proposition, go-to-market strategy, and the operational processes that underpin delivery. You’ll work closely with creative and strategy to make sure social isn’t an afterthought, it’s front and centre of how campaigns are built.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be shaping the direction while staying close enough to the work to keep standards high. And crucially, you’ll have the freedom to develop new social products, not just deliver existing ones.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Taking commercial ownership of a £1m social division with a clear growth target of £2m
  • Identifying and converting new business opportunities, both through existing clients and new relationships
  • Leading social strategy across a portfolio of brand clients spanning fashion, beauty, finance and tech
  • Being the lead strategist on key accounts, driving demand, creative and channel strategy for existing clients, new business pitches and upsells
  • Managing and developing a team of social managers and creators, setting clear KPIs and driving engagement
  • Building strong client relationships at a senior level and personally ensuring the agency’s biggest clients feel well looked after
  • Partnering with creative, paid, PR and strategy teams to deliver genuinely integrated cross-channel campaigns
  • Owning the agency’s social offering, pitching it, evolving it, growing it
  • Developing new and innovative social media products that keep the agency ahead of the market
  • Using audience insights and data to develop ideas that drive client goals from brand awareness through to conversion
  • Working with designers and content creators with an always-on mindset, providing reactive recommendations when opportunities arise
  • Conducting campaign research and competitor analysis to inspire ideas and identify emerging trends
  • Building robust cross-platform processes to maximise efficiency across social campaign deliverables
  • Keeping the agency sharp on platform trends, creator culture, and what’s actually working

 

Skills & Experience

  • At least 8 to 10 years of experience in social at an agency or in-brand environment
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen, someone who understands revenue, retention, and growth
  • Creative ideas that run through your veins. You’re constantly consuming content and know instinctively what will land
  • The ability to take a vision and bring others with you, briefing copywriters, designers, creators and analysts to make it real
  • A strategic brain that can operate across multiple brands, sectors and formats simultaneously
  • Confident presenting to clients and holding senior relationships at board level
  • Someone who can build and develop a team and create a culture people want to be part of
  • Learning agility, the ability to adapt quickly and think critically as the landscape shifts

Creativity isn’t a nice to have here. The agency lives and breathes it and they need a Head of Social who does the same.
